Welcome to Heavy Drop Training!
Our goal is to get you where you want to be physically and mentally by utilizing minimal equipment. The breakdown of the workouts, depending on the version you choose (SB&R+, SB&R, BW&R, KIDS, or BW ONLY) you will be doing over the next 6 weeks will be using 3 things: a weighted ruck, a sandbag(s), and/or lastly your own body weight.
Workouts will be found on our Heavy Drop Training Logging Site and e-mailed to you the Sunday prior, each exercise will have a linked video showing how to perform the exercise. Prior to the beginning of the round, you will need to have a timed slick (no weight) run AND strict (no running or shuffling) ruck. For both the run and ruck, you choose your distance, typically 1-5 miles are the most common distances chosen (it can be different distances for the run and ruck).
Make sure to join the Facebook support group, if you haven't already, and we will assign you your battle buddy who will be one of your main support lines to keep you motivated and pushing harder! Click to see first hand REVIEWS of the training.
3 Primary Workouts (strength, endurance, and a soul crusher)
We recommend adding them Monday (strength), Wednesday (endurance), and Friday/Saturday (soul crusher) or Tuesday (strength), Thursday (endurance), Saturday/Sunday (soul crusher):
1 AMRAP workout (aka care packages).
As Many Reps As Possible for 15-30 mins depending on the assigned work.
Typically you would add this in on a day you are not doing the primary workouts.
Videos of each movement will be available to you, along with a few specific workouts and videos that are only available to those taking part in the training, HDT Specials (AKA the most loved exercises).
We offer multiple versions of HDT allowing any level of fitness to take part.
Sandbag & Ruck+ (SB&R+) Version: which you will be using your BW, weighted ruck and a sandbag for the workouts, along with an additional list of items specific to training for Selection, Team Assessment, or alike.
- Sandbag & Ruck (SB&R) Version: which you will be using your BW, weighted ruck and a sandbag for the workouts
- Body Weight & Ruck (BW&R) Version: which you will be using your BW and a weighted ruck the workouts
- Body Weight Only (BW) Version: which you will be using just your BW for workouts.
- KIDS Version: which your kid(s) will be using a light weighted ruck and/or BW for workouts.
Accountability Log (Optional; You will still get a log to put notes in if Solo):
Each Battle Buddy will be accountable for their buddy, you will mark off in the log that YOUR buddy completed their workout (and vice versa).
There is a point system for this, pre-training is worth 5 points, if you complete one of the HDT workouts it is worth 3 points, if you complete the Care Package it is worth 1 point, each strict ruck and slick run is worth 1 point each. For the whole 6 weeks each buddy should end up with 71 points if they complete all workouts (not including the 6 & 12-mile As Fast As Possible rucks).
The top 3 Battle Buddy Teams with the most points at the end of the 6 weeks will get a 1st-75%, 2nd-50%, and 3rd-25% off the next or a future round. If there is a tie, there will be a AMRAP tie breaker between those teams tied (tied teams will then be ranked based on total reps done) on Sunday evening of Week 6.
Ruck & Runs:
Odd weeks (1,3,5) you will do a timed slick run (no weight), your goal time will be based off your pre-training time. Once you log a new time you will get a new goal for the following week if you beat your prior goal. The distance of the run is based on what you choose for pre-training.
Even weeks (2,4,6) you will do a timed weighted ruck (20#, 30#, or 40# based on your pre-training choice), your goal time will be based off your pre-training time. Once you log a new time you will get a new goal for the following week if you beat your prior goal. The distance of the run is based on what you choose for pre-training.
In the first 3 weeks you will be expected to do a single AFAP (As Fast As Possible) 6-mile ruck (points to be determined).
In the last 3 weeks you will be expected to do a single AFAP 12-mile ruck (points to be determined).
Things you will need to have are a sandbag and/or ruck with weight, we highly recommend the GORUCK brand:
